Ill NS senior gets jail time for molesting 4 foster daughters


An 84-year-old Nova Scotia man was sentenced to three years in prison for molesting four of his foster daughters.

The judge said it would have been a longer term if not for John Archibald Connolly's failing health, which includes treatment for bowel cancer, heart disease, stroke and prostate problems, among others.

According to court documents, Connolly's offences took place between 1956 and 1980, during which time he and his wife took in many foster children.

The first victim was abused for 10 years, while three other girls suffered "degrading sexual assaults," Judge Gerald R.P. Moir said.  (more...)
